A Commitment to Sustainability

Miscusi has always been a symbol of Italy's rich culinary tradition, a company dedicated to spreading the Mediterranean lifestyle, with a strong focus on inclusivity, sustainability, and quality. Founded with deep respect for tradition and sustainability, the company aims to revolutionize the restaurant industry by placing the well-being of people, the environment, and the community at its center. Today, Miscusi works with over 40 Italian suppliers, all committed to low-impact farming techniques, ensuring the preservation of the land and its resources.

Environmental impact and certifications

Miscusi's commitment to sustainability is evident through its recognition as a B-Corp, awarded for excellence in social and environmental performance. In the latest B-Corp certification, Miscusi achieved an outstanding score of 87.6, showing a significant improvement in environmental practices of over 50%. This result demonstrates the company's ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and ensure that every product, from raw materials to the finished dish, meets strict sustainability criteria.
The score achieved in the B-Corp assessment highlighted excellent results in governance, community engagement, environmental sustainability, customer relations, and employee well-being, all signs of a genuine commitment to making a positive impact.

Contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

In line with the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Miscusi's commitment focuses on ten key SDGs. These include reducing poverty and hunger, improving health and well-being, promoting gender equality, and reducing waste in food production. By blending sustainability with business innovation, Miscusi continues to lead by example, promoting responsible production and consumption, as well as taking concrete steps to combat climate change.

Innovative partnerships and sustainable practices

Miscusi has launched strategic partnerships to promote sustainability, such as with Agrifuture for research into the cultivation of perennial cereals, and with MartinoRossi for the development of plant-based and gluten-free products. These collaborations enable the company to offer healthier, more environmentally friendly dishes, promoting agricultural biodiversity. The use of alternative grains, such as sorghum, reduces CO2 emissions by 78% and water consumption by 90% compared with traditional wheat.
Moreover, Miscusi embraces renewable energy, achieving a significant reduction in its carbon footprint thanks to the partnership with Repower. This supports the company's ongoing commitment to combat climate change and environmental impact.

Employee well-being and engagement

At the heart of Miscusi's values is the commitment to people. The company promotes a work environment that fosters inclusivity, professional growth, and the well-being of employees. With nearly 300 team members, more than half of whom are women, Miscusi offers training programs and development opportunities. The company also provides a range of benefits, including free psychological support and subsidized meals to promote team building and mental well-being.
The attention to gender equality has enabled Miscusi to obtain gender parity certification, and it continues to develop programs that support employees, particularly in balancing work and personal life. Special attention is also given to employees with disabilities, ensuring equal opportunities for growth and leadership.

Community Involvement and Volunteering

Miscusi's commitment to the community is reflected in its ongoing volunteer activities. In collaboration with Recup, the company helps reduce food waste at Mercato Ortofrutticolo di Milano. Miscusi employees participate in this initiative, recovering up to 11 tons of fruit and vegetables each week, which are donated to charitable organizations such as Banco Alimentare and Croce Rossa Italiana.
Moreover, the initiative "MISCUSI is family" invites elderly people living alone to celebrate the Christmas and Easter holidays in Miscusi restaurants, fostering a sense of community and solidarity. This gesture of generosity, launched in 2019, continues to inspire similar projects in the restaurant sector, demonstrating the company's commitment to creating a positive impact in society.

A journey toward sustainable innovation

Miscusi’s journey toward sustainability is an ongoing quest, with ambitious goals for the future. The company remains committed to reducing its environmental impact, improving the well-being of its employees, and generating a positive impact on the community. By placing sustainability and commitment to the community at the heart of its activities, Miscusi isn’t just serving excellent pasta; it’s also creating a lasting impact on the world and on its people.

Sorghum flour

From Miscusi, we’ve chosen the sorghum fusillone, a sustainable pasta that reduces environmental impact and offers a gluten-free alternative, rich in iron and antioxidants. Cultivated with regenerative techniques, the sorghum allows us to save water and reduce CO2 emissions, making every dish good for the planet and for your health.
